Do you sometimes feel like you just can’t face one more day of work? Does your work completely drain you out? Are you scared you are burning yourself out stuck doing a job you no longer feel passionate about? And that you would anything in the world to just quit, but not have to deal with your boss and the HR to try and explain your decision? If you said yes to all of those, we have good news for you.

There might be a way that you could quit your job, without having to do it yourself. Confused? Allow me to explain.

Yuichiro Okazaki and his childhood friend, Toshiyuki Niino are the co-founders of a Japanese startup that offers a service called Exit.

Exit submits resignation notices to employers on behalf of clients. That is, it relays on an employee’s intention to resign in return for a fee.

The startup which was launched last year, Senshi S LLC, charges their clients ₹32,000 for this service. And if you are a part-time employee, you’ll be charged a fee of ₹26,000.

They also offer a discount of ₹6500 if you are a repeat customer.

Speaking to the Japan Times, Toshiyuki says:

“Quitting jobs can be a soul-crushing hassle. We’re here to provide a sense of relief by taking on that burden.”

The service might seem a bit expensive to some, but then again, it depends on how much you don’t want to have that talk with your boss yourself. Also, based on how business has been blooming for them, it seems as though many are actually considering this a worthy investment in return for peace of mind.

Just in one year, Exit has mediated the resignation process of almost 800 people. The service took care of the piles of paperwork involved and saved their clients from their bosses trying to talk them out of it, as well as the recrimination they would’ve had to face at their workplace.

The 28-year-old Toshiyuki believes this is something beneficial for the companies as well:

“Quitting should be something positive. It’s good for companies, too. Employees thinking of resigning generally aren’t very productive. It can resolve the talent mismatch at an early stage and would help enhance labor market fluidity.”

And how does it work? Once someone submits an online application, it is reviewed and if accepted the client is required to make the payment. Following the payment, Exit contacts the client’s employer and notify them of the resignation request. They also discuss the how of it, whether their client will be coming into work or not, whether they’d like to use up any paid leave etc.

However, they do not interfere in anything legal and act only as the messenger. So, don’t expect them to discuss your severance package with your employee.

How cool is this service? Can someone please start something similar in India? You’d definitely have loads of clients.
