Japanese Hotel Offers Room At ₹66 A Night If You Agree To Live Stream Your Entire Stay

Hotels that offer an affordable yet comfortable stay are hard to find. By chance, if you find a less expensive hotel you gotta compromise with something or the other whether it’s their service, hygiene or food.

But, Ryokan Asah, a hotel located in Fukuoka City of Japan is offering a room for a night at as low as 100 yen (Rs. 66) if you agree to compromise your privacy for 24 hours, reports CNN.

The hotel offers a sojourn at Rs. 66 for a night on the condition that your entire stay will be live-streamed on their YouTube channel called ‘One Dollar Hotel. The offer runs all year long but is applicable to only one room in the hotel which has a camera pointing towards the middle of the room with no blindspots. No microphones are used so that the guests can talk among themselves and attend phone calls without hesitation.

The guests are however not allowed to engage in any sexual activity or nudity during their stay. The hotel owners also warn the guest to not use their personal documents like ID cards, address proof or credit cards in front of the camera.

The camera doesn’t cover the bathroom and guests are also allowed to turn off the room’s lights if needed. Also, the typical Japanese style room comes with a foldable sleeping mat, a small coffee table and a TV, quite enough to spend a night comfortably!

The idea of live-streaming was a brainchild of the hotel owner Tetsuya Inoue’s grandmother who wanted to explore creative ways of making their business grow. “This is a very old ryokan and I was looking into a new business model,” Inoue told NDTV.

“Our hotel is on the cheaper side, so we need some added value, something special that everyone will talk about,” he added. Moreover, on the days when the room is not rented, Inoue live streams the video of himself working in his office.

Though the offer doesn’t require the guests to do something unusual or entertaining for the camera, you can certainly show off your talent to impress the 1000 subscribers of their YouTube channel. Would you like to give it a try? Tell us!
