It’s no secret that millionaires have a ton of money at their disposal. From paying lakhs of rupees to someone who attends a music festival with them to spending a huge amount to hire a personal photographer, the rich sometimes spend their wealth on really unusual things.
Recently, a Japanese billionaire decided to give away 1 million yen (Rs.65 crore approximately) to his Twitter followers. All people had to do was follow billionaire Yusaku Maezawa on Twitter and retweet his post before January 7 to participate in the giveaway, reports News 18.

The fashion tycoon said he is doing this as a “social experiment” to see if receiving the money would boost the happiness of the winners. Have a look at his announcement video for the giveaway:
Over 4 million people participated in the contest. Yusaku will divvy up the 1 million yen among 1,000 followers selected at random. Calling it a serious social trial, he said winners can use the money as they like but they should answer regular questionnaires about how they are spending it, reports CNN Business. The impact of the money will be tracked through these surveys.
The billionaire, who pulled a similar stunt in January 2019, is hoping to attract the interest of academics and economists to analyze the results of his experiment. We can’t say whether his experiment will be a success or fail but we are sure the lucky winners will be really happy to receive the money.
