A few days ago, Shri Sita Ram temple in Ayodhya opened its doors for an Iftar meal for all those who were fasting during Ramzan. The temple priest, Yugal Kishor revealed that this was the third Iftar party held in the temple premises. This gesture of love and harmony was lauded by each and every person in the community.
In a similar show of unity, a Jama Masjid in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, helped prepare food for a ‘Shiv bhandara’ on its premises.
According to Times Now News, a Somnath Shiv Mandir is located in Mohalla Chahshor, Meerut. For its 150th foundation day, it organised a Shiv bhandara and the chief city cleric or Sheher Kazi of the mosque (located in Kotwali), Zain-us-Sajideen, decided to assist them in the preparations.
The mosque premises was used to wash vegetables and make the food for the bhandara. Many local residents who regularly pray there helped out with the cooking and distribution of meals and water.
It is so heartening to see people take part in local events irrespective of caste and religion. We hope that all communities celebrate festivals of every religion and faith with equal respect and devotion.
