Jaipur Police Arrests Two Men & Their Stash Of Fake Currency Worth ₹4.77 Crore

With the increasing popularity of online banking and e-wallets, the economy is slowly but steadily going cashless. However, many of us still use cash for various transactions and that means that the issue of fake currency is still quite relevant. A while back, a Mumbai-based scriptwriter was apprehended with fake notes worth Rs. 5 lacs.

Now, 38-year-old Khem Chand and 19-year-old Rajesh have been arrested for the possession of fake currency to the tune of Rs. 4.77 crores. The Jaipur police who were working with the CID and CB found fake pistols, forged land documents and forged stamps along with the counterfeit notes bearing a ‘children fun bank’ logo.

On September 18, SHO Jitendra Singh and his team received word that the accused would be handing over fake currency to a client in Manak Chowk. Upon raiding the area, the team was successfully able to seize the counterfeit currency and also nab the culprits.

The Times of India quoted a law enforcement official revealing their modus operandi by saying, “The gang would place an original currency note at the top of the money bundle to trick people, while the rest of the money underneath contained toy notes. Whenever a buyer got suspicious after seeing the children bank’s logo, the accused would wave a toy pistol to intimidate him.”

Accused Khem Chand is a wanted criminal with several cases of murder, supplying & smuggling high-quality fake Indian currency notes (FICN) and ATM theft. At the hideout, the police found that he had laminated newspaper clippings of himself and his previous accomplices being arrested earlier to boost his street cred.

“He used these newspaper cuttings to shore up his image that he was part of an inter-state gang involved in selling high-quality FICN printed in Bangladesh.”

We sincerely hope that this time they are given adequate punishment for duping people of around Rs. 25 lacs.
