Most of us know him as ‘Soorma Bhopali’ from the 1975 film ‘Sholay’. Veteran actor and comedian Jagdeep alias Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jafri, who entertained people with his impactful performances in more than 400 films, breathed his last today in Mumbai, reports Republic TV.
Producer Mehmood Ali, said in a statement, “He passed away at 8.30 pm at his residence in Bandra. He was not keeping well due to age-related issues,” reported Economic Times.
The actor who performed in movies like ‘Purana Mandir’ and ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ is survived by two sons, actor Javed Jaaferi and film-maker Naved Jaaferi.
Several B-town celebs mourned the passing away of the legendary actor.
Jagdeep saheb had first appeared on the screen as a winsome child Artiste in films like Do bigha Zameen . As a young man he played highly emotional n dramatic roles in films like Bhabi , patang . Comedy was his second successful inning . Great talent , underused . Good bye sir .

I remember my father telling me that he watched the movie ‘Sholay’ multiple times in the theatres just to see Jagdeep spread his magic on the big screen.
His passing away is an irreparable loss to the Indian film industry. May his soul rest in peace.
