This Jabalpur Collector Uses YouTube Videos To Give Free Coaching For IAS Entrance Exam

Coaching classes are like mushrooms. You can never be sure where it will erupt from and how long it is going to be there. That day doesn’t seem far when for most exams that happen in India, there are more coaching classes than students going for the exam. With heavy fees and little attention given to students, these classes often turn out to be a waste of time.

Bringing a contrast to the money making trend by common coaching institutes, the Collector of Jabalpur, Dr. Roman Saini has started free of cost coaching classes with his friend Gaurav Munjal. Their initiative is called ‘Unacademy’ and the classes are given through YouTube tutorial videos which anyone can access from anywhere without having to pay a single rupee.

 

These classes are divided into various chapters and the students can easily pick their topic. The subjects are versatile in nature and include Geography, Economics, Biology and many others. As per Dr. Roman Saini’s conversation with an English daily, till date, 10 students have been selected for the IAS through these classes. This success has shown them that they should plan more such tutorials for other competitive exams also.

Dr. Roman Saini is quite an interesting person himself. Here is a brief profile of him to show you why I say that,

– Hailing from Jaipur, Rajasthan, he completed school at 16 years of age
– He also cleared the prestigious AIPMT exam on his first attempt
– Studied Medical Science in AIIMS
– Also, got a degree in guitar during his graduation from Trinity College, London
– Cleared the most sought after IAS exam after his graduation with 18th rank
– Became Collector at the age of 22!

(I think my parents would like to adopt him!)

 

The YouTube channel, ‘Unacademy,’ has more than 1 lakh subscribers and is growing in terms of views. Around 364 videos have been uploaded till now on their channel to benefit the students who don’t have the finances to afford a coaching. Nevertheless, the videos are equally beneficial for everyone.

The recent video by the channel has featured IAS topper, Ira Singhal. In the video, she is giving tips on how to clear the IAS exam and shares resources in the other video. Dr Roman Saini thought that including Ira in the video would motivate students to prepare better for the examination. Despite holding a position of high responsibility, he ensures that the students get their queries resolved on time. His initiative is first of a kind effort by a Collector in this field and is truly helping many students in achieving their dreams.

Dr. Roman Saini, please continue doing such good work and inspire your students and fellows to do the same. We desperately need education for all, especially for the ones who cannot afford it.
