ISIS Claims To Have Established New Branch In India For The First Time After Clash In Kashmir

A name which strikes fear in the minds of everyone across the globe is the ISIS. And a recent incident concerning them has caused great concern for not just the common man but high ranking officials of the government as well.

The Islamic terror group claims to have established a new “province” in India, an announcement which was made after clashes between militants and security forces in Kashmir. The province is named as ‘Wilayah Hind’ which is a new branch for the ISIS and the declaration was made through Amaq News Agency as reported by The Hindu.

They also claimed in the statement that IS inflicted casualties on Indian army soldiers in the town of Amshipora in the Shopian district of Kashmir.

However, according to Economic Timesa senior Jammu and Kashmir official has rejected the claim. Whereas, Rita Katz who is the director of the SITE Intel Group that tracks Islamic extremists said, “ISIS declares its new “Hind Province” while claiming clashes with Indian forces in Amshipora”.

She went on to add, “The establishment of a ‘province’ in a region where it has nothing resembling actual governance is absurd, but it should not be written off.”

Even though ISIS did not exact the province’s geographical territory, sources claimed that that the new branch is ISIS’s strategy to give an impression of strong global affiliations after their losses in the Middle East, where the group was driven off from its self-styled “caliphate” (area ruled by a chief Muslim leader) in Iraq and Syria in April.

This is significant and concerning because a “province” eventually can lead to a fully functional “caliphate” the ISIS had back in the Middle East! We hope the government takes action against this.
