Irrfan Khan Says Cancer Made Him Understand The Real Meaning Of ‘Running Out Of Time’

Irrfan Khan and his struggle with cancer was indeed heartbreaking news for us all. Recently, the ‘Angrezi Medium‘ actor took to social media to inform his fans that he would not be able to promote his film after his body had been “gatecrashed” by “unwanted guests”, hinting at cancer and his ongoing treatment. However, he let his fans know that he would be updating them on whatever happens.

In a recent interview, Irrfan Khan opened up more about how the illness changed his life, his perception, and his relationships with people, reports Hindustan Times. He talks about how he has become more sensitive to people and recognises small gestures of kindness.

“When your life experience changes so drastically, the actor is bound to change too. Actors get their stimuli from their personal life. I will be indebted to this film’s crew all my life. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to shoot in such extreme weather, but Anil Mehta (cinematographer) made it easier. Perhaps, I have become more sensitive because I noticed even the smallest of gestures of those around.”

According to The Indian Express, the 53-year-old actor also spoke about how he learnt the true meaning of “running out of time”.

“I had become excessively busy, so much so that I almost missed (watching) my sons (Babil and Ayan) become young adults from little boys. I was running out of time all the time. Ironically now, I have kind of an idea what ‘running out of time’ actually means.”

When asked about his health, Irrfan said:

“Honestly, I don’t know. I really don’t know. While some days are great, others are bad. Most of the time, I think I am cleaning the clutter away from the noise.”

And when asked about whether he is nervous about how things would unfold for him, Irrfan said:

“To be honest, all my anxiety has been exhausted with the roller-coaster ride of this disease. I am content that we have been able to make a happy film. So, the answer is: no, I am not nervous. I am just happy and nothing else.”

It is true that a person’s entire being is prone to change with such a drastic occurrence, as we have seen in Irrfan’s life. We wish him strength and a speedy recovery!
