Irrfan Khan Passes Away At 54, Three Days After Losing His Mother

After a prolonged battle with neuroendocrine tumour, actor Irrfan Khan had a brilliant comeback with ‘Angrezi Medium’. However, yesterday, he was admitted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital because of colon infection, reports India Today.

According to News18, the 54-year-old versatile actor passed away today.

His official spokesperson has issued a statement saying,

“It’s saddening that this day, we have to bring forward the news of him passing away. Irrfan was a strong soul, someone who fought till the very end and always inspired everyone who came close to him. After having been struck by lightning in 2018 with the news of rare cancer, he took life soon after as it came and he fought the many battles that came with it. Surrounded by his love, his family for whom he most cared about, he left for heavenly abode, leaving behind truly a legacy of his own. We all pray and hope that he is at peace.”

NDTV reports that his mother Saeeda Begum passed away at 95 on April 25. Irrfan attended her final rites through video conferencing as they were held in Jaipur during the lockdown.

With powerful performances in movies like ‘The Lunchbox’, ‘Piku’, ‘Paan Singh Tomar’, ‘The Namesake’, ‘Life In A Metro’, ‘Salaam Bombay!’, ‘Maqbool’, ‘Hindi Medium’, etc under his belt, there is no denying the fact that Bollywood has lost a true gem today. Rest in peace, sir!
