The video of his proposal soon spread on social media like a wildfire. But the couple, however, would have never thought of what was coming their way! Turns out, their fancy love proposal is ‘a disregard to Iranian mores and culture’.
And so the couple was arrested. Police said that the pair have offended Islamic mores on public decency. Mostafa Norouzi, deputy police chief in Arak, said that it is unacceptable for the young “to do whatever is common in other places of the world and disregard mores, culture and religion” in Iran, reported Fox News.
The pair’s “offense is very clear and there is no need for an explanation” about the reason for their arrest, Norouzi added. They were later on released on a bail.
The hardcore Iranian culture perceives public display of affection as a corrupt influence of the western culture. Also, it violates conservative Islamic morals.
