Delhi Office Of Institute Of Town Planners India Flooded After Rainfall, Desis Marvel At Irony

We live in a country where irony dies a thousand deaths every day, where jokes write themselves and there is no need for standup comedy, where even amidst serious social, political and economic issues, news of the most absurd occurrences will grab headlines, causing us to break into a laugh. Here’s an example.

In Delhi, there’s the office of the Institute of Town Planners, India. If you visit their website, the first main ‘objective’ that is listed reads “To advance the study of town planning, civic design and kindred subjects” and the second one reads “To promote planned, economic, scientific and artistic development of towns, cities and rural areas.”

Delhi has been experiencing strong bouts of rainfall and the Institute of Town Planners’ office has been flooded. People have been pumping out the water from inside the building.

That’s right. The Institute of Town Planners couldn’t even plan their own office properly.

People online have been laughing constantly at the absurdity of this incident. Here’s how they reacted:

India, you’re a country that just keeps on giving! 😛
