Indore Labourer’s Daughter Gets 1BHK Flat & Free Education After Securing 1st Division In Class X Exams

“Hard work always pays off.” And, Bharti Khandekar, the daughter of daily wage labourers, is living proof of that. Bharti, who passed her Class X examination with first division, lives on the footpath with her parents and two brothers in Indore, reports News18.

However, she never let that or any other obstacle come in her way to secure 68 percent in Class X. In fact, the Indore girl credited her success to her hard-working parents who sent her to government school despite the money crunch and all the hardships.

“I secured 68 per cent in Class X. The credit of my success goes to my parents who worked hard to send me school. I am happy,” she was quoted saying.

Impressed by her determination, the Municipal Corporation of Indore gifted her a flat to pursue her dreams. Bharti received a 1 BHK flat under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. She was also provided with clothes, books among other essentials by the commission.

Speaking about her future, the bright student said she aspires to be an IAS officer one day.

“I want to become an IAS officer. We were born on the footpath and studied there. We didn’t have a house to live in, we were staying on the footpath.”

“I would like to thank the administration for gifting me this house and making my further education free,” she added. Her father, who never went to school, said he worked hard to ensure his children are not bereaved of education. He was quoted saying by NDTV,

“My wife and I are daily wage labourers. In the morning I go to work and my wife works as a sweeper in a school. Bharti manages her younger brothers. Then she studies till 1 o’clock at night, both of them wake up turn by turn to guard Bharti.”

Over the moon by her daughter’s achievement, Laxmi, her mother, said that Bharti is like Goddess Laxmi to the family. Her mother, who earns Rs.2000 a month, also mentioned how Bharti had worked really hard to excel in her exams. Kudos to Bharti for her sheer grit and determination. We wish her good luck for all her future endeavours.
