A user on Reddit shared how the elder brother of one of his childhood friends went from being extremely poor to a PhD in Astrophysics and a lecturer at King’s College, London.

“I had a childhood friend who was extremely poor. His father was a welder and a severe alcoholic. He himself dropped out in 7th grade. He had an elder brother who I always saw studying on the balcony. He never spoke to me, just smiled. He studied in the most ghetto Govt school where the most notorious and poor kids went. Unthinkable atmosphere. Recently I met his elder brother after 15 years and I was shocked. He is a PhD in astrophysics and is doing some research on something which went over my head. He has travelled most of the US and Europe and now is a guest lecturer at King’s College, London.”

Sharing this story, he urged other people on the subreddit to share similar such tales that they know of, and people surely did deliver!
