The opening ceremony of every Olympics is a spectacle to behold!
Fireworks and performances by the best artists in the host country make it an event you would remember for the next 4 years.
But what makes the ceremony special for everyone looking at their TV screens is when their country’s national contingent of athletes walk proudly with the national flag in the front.
This year 11,000 athletes from 205 countries walked into the stadium!
And our Indian contingent looked smart, with Abhinav Bindra leading the country’s best athletes into the Olympic stadium
The athletes proudly waved miniature versions of our tricolor, while soaking in the electric atmosphere
There are stupid talks going about women told to wear blazers over sarees, but when our athletes walk into the stadium for their country and millions are cheering, we do not think that is an issue
And looking at the twitter pictures of women athletes, they do not look remotely sad!

And, if we didn’t know it already, Leander Paes is making history by taking part in his record 7th Olympics! And boy, he looks excited!

We wish our athletes the best!
You make us proud, waving our flag on an international stage.
