Full disclosure, Google Maps is fricking awesome. It helps you navigate through unknown territories. It shows you which routes are congested or are comparatively free. It shows you what are the nearest hotels, re-fueling stations, government offices and almost any location in existence.
But it’s how Google Maps takes you to your destination is where the problem lies. I mean, we can’t award points for telling us to keep going on a straight road which stretches on for 15kms. It should be able to tell us about the turns, shortcuts, dividers and every other little detail that we can’t see.
So, Kartik Arora, a stand-up comedian from Delhi, decided to let Google know about the shortcomings in their navigational system through a hilarious tweet.
Dear @Google
Itne badhiya maps banaye, chota sa feature aur daal dete ki saaf saaf bolde flyover par chadhna hai ya neeche se jaana hai. 5 inch ke screen par aadhe milimetre ka deflection Kahan se dekhe aadmi?
Yours Truly,
2km aage se U Turn leta hua aadmi— Kartik Arora (@notkartHik) January 22, 2019
Translation for non-Hindi speakers:
“Dear Google,
The maps are great, but there should be a feature to let us know if we’ve to get on the flyover or not. How can someone notice a deflection of 0.5 millimetre on a 5-inch screen?
Yours truly,
The person who’s taking a U Turn after 2kms”
And Google responded to it in an equally funny manner.
Shukar manate hain aap jaise users ka, jo humein sahi raah dikhaate hain. Behtar bante jaane ka yeh safar rukega nahin, mere humsafar.

Some more translation for non-Hindi speakers:
“Thankfully we have users like you to show the right path. This journey of self-improvement is never-ending, my fellow traveller.”
As the complaint became viral, it became apparent that Kartik wasn’t the only one who suffered from Google Maps’ mixed signals. Here are some of the reactions:
Only the wearer knows where the shoe pinches 😂

When I'm navigating and see a flyover I have a mini panic attack. And 70% of the times I get it wrong. So yes, much-wanted feature. https://t.co/vcJFzuXSXh

So, do you have any complaints for Google Maps? Are there any strange and otherworldly places where it has led you to?
