‘Dirty Mind’: News Anchor Bursts Out Laughing As Man Compares India, Pakistan’s ‘Bananas’

When someone’s live on television, they need to be extra careful and vigilant all the time. That’s because things like a tooth falling or someone eating flies during a live debate can happen unexpectedly, diverting the viewers’ attention.

But this anchor wasn’t able to keep her calm which led to her becoming fodder for jokes and laughter online.

A not-so-punny but really funny incident happened during a live panel discussion on a Pakistani news channel. It seems that the news anchor, identified as Alveena Agha, and her guest were discussing something about research and development when the elderly gentleman started comparing the sizes of the bananas grown in Bombay, Dhaka, and Sindh (a province of Pakistan). As the man started using hand gestures to demonstrate the sizes of bananas, the news anchor couldn’t stop giggling on live TV.

In the now-viral video, the guest can be heard saying:

“Bananas are grown in plenty in Sindhi. However, if the zamindars here do some research and if an investment is made then they can also grow bananas like those found in Bombay (Mumbai) that can make the entire room fragrant if six bananas are kept together.”

He further explained, using hand gestures, that bananas found in Dhaka (Bangladesh) are the size of his wrist while those found in Pakistan are as small as a finger.

Although the anchor tried hard to control her smile during the guest’s speech, she failed terribly. Agha bursts out in laughter interrupting the guest from speaking further. The ‘banana expert’ was left red-faced, however, he kept his calm and continued to clarify that he was simply talking about the research and development needed in his country that would eventually increase the product’s demand and sale.

The clip that was tweeted by a Pakistani journalist Nalia Inayat was shared extensively with thousands of responses from people online.

While the man can be seen completely engrossed in talking about the development needed in the country to increase their banana produce, the anchor sure wasn’t thinking about the fruit probably because the word ‘kela’ is often used as slang for a man’s penis. What do you think?
