As most of the world went virtual this year due to the pandemic, educational institutes came up with a new way to bid adieu to graduating students – virtual convocations. A few months back, IIT Bombay hosted a virtual convocation, a video of which was a massive hit online! Students and teachers were seen in digital avatars and the entire event was live-streamed online.
However, IIT Madras decided to use a green screen to create a ‘cinematic’ effect. While the entire event was virtual, the edited shots were placed together to give it a ‘real’ feeling.
Unlike IIT Bombay, the students of IIT Madras were given a chance to say a farewell speech. Have a look at the video here:
Loved this. IIT Madras convocation went virtual, and looks like they had fun doing this. pic.twitter.com/Oe0ePSGzzw

While there were some people who loved the virtual convocation, there were many who couldn’t get over how hilarious the animation was! The sudden appearance of the student reminded many of Shaktimaan! One even went ahead to make a parody video. Have a look:

This seems like a convocation that would be hard to forget. We can’t wait to see other institutes get creative when their turn comes!
