Setting Examples! IAS Officers Carry Rice Bags On Shoulders For Floods Relief Camps In Kerala

The state of Kerala has been hit by unprecedented floods as the rains continue to wreak havoc in several parts of the state. In what is believed to be the worst flood in Kerala since 1924, thousands of people have their lives at risk. Rescue acts and operations are being conducted in full flow to bring the state back to normalcy.

Actors, celebrities and also the Indian army have come out in support of the state, participating actively in the relief work. After the Indian Army showed its prowess by rescuing over 800 people and also building bridges in the state, we have two IAS officers making the news.

In some pictures that are making rounds on social media, G Rajamanikyam, Special officer dealing with Disaster Management, and Wayanad sub-collector NSK Umesh can be seen carrying rice bags at the Collectorate for distribution at relief camps. The two, who are nothing less than heroes, are seen offloading heavy rice bags from a vehicle.

According to reports, people who were at work were taking rest after a day’s of hard work. But when another vehicle minitruck with relief materials came at around 9:30 pm on Tuesday night, these officers did not think twice before lending their hands in carrying some to the storeroom.

While these valiant servants of our country are playing their part, you can also do so by contributing to the Chief Minister’s relief fund. All you have to do is get in touch with Anbodu Kochi, a social media initiative in association with Ernakulam district administration which has been collecting relief materials to send to the camps.

And as far as G Rajamanikyam and NSK Umesh are concerned, we bow down in front of them in respect.
