We are no stranger to the absolute horror that the state of Kerala had to go through over the past few months. The state was ripped apart by unprecedented floods, which is believed to be the worst since 1924. While a plethora of people and animals lost their lives, thousands were left stranded and moved to relief camps.
Rescue operations took place in full swing as the Indian Army, police officers, other state governments and celebrities came together to help the people in need.
And amidst all the heroes who worked selflessly for the flood victims, here is a man who did the same without revealing his true identity.
Meet Kannan Gopinathan, the district collector of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, who reportedly took a personal leave from his job to get on the field and work for the flood-affected.
Hailing from the city of Kottayam, the young bureaucrat did all kinds of manual work throughout the day. According to reports, he helped in whatever way he could.
A Twitter thread reveals that Gopinathan even travelled in KSRTC buses and went through 5 districts in 10 days like a normal volunteer. Even his own family wasn’t aware of his presence in the state.

However, when the district collector of Ernakulum visited the relief funds, he recognized Gopinathan, who had introduced himself as an NGO worker to the people there.
