From ‘Hot Fudge Bipasha’ To ‘Katrina’s Mango’, This Hyderabad Café Has A VERY Sexist Menu

Care for some ”Sunny Freeze’ or ‘Blue Beyoncé’?

I am sure, you are wondering what kind of question is that? Or, what are these? Because, they sure sound like something on the menu. Well, they are.

A Hyerdabadi café, Ohri’s Eat Mor at HiTec City, is actually serving them and there’s a ‘Kardashian Twist’ in the story too. They are all curated under the ‘Item Bombs’ Page which basically lists all the milkshakes.

Yes, milkshakes are named after women celebrities like Shakira, Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif, Sonakshi Sinha, Kim Kardashian, Jacqueline Fernandes, Sunny Leone, Beyoncé and Malaika Arora. And each name’s taking sexism to another level. What the hell is Katrina’s Mango or Hot Fudge Bipasha supposed to mean?

Are you kidding me?

Mr Junaid Amir, a resident of Lingampally, told Deccan Chronicle,

“Initially we laughed when we saw the menu but when we realised that an entire page was listed in such a demeaning way, it was shocking. There is a clear sexist undertone to the menu. How can you name your milkshakes in this manner?”

But the management tried to justify their sexism and said,

“These are just names of our popular milkshakes. There are not representative of anyone. We celebrate womanhood and any resemblance to a person is purely coincidental.”

Umm, yeah. Coincidental is a good word. And, what about sexism? Normalising sexism now, are we?

This is actually not the first time women’s names have been used for naming drinks. There have been numerous cases of casual sexism and there are hundreds of menus across our country that are proof of this. Don’t believe me? You can see for yourself, the next time you pick up a menu.

P.S. In another outlet of the same resto-chain, there’s a drink called, ‘Chameli Ka Chumma’.
