Hyderabad Bus Driver Parks Safely Even While Having A Fatal Heart Attack

Even in this dog-eat-dog world where people will do just about anything to get ahead, there are still those who risk their own lives to help others. And their inherent goodness and bravery is a lesson for us all. Be it a two-year-old organ donor or an auto driver that drowned while saving a woman and her baby, they show us that humanity is still alive.

According to The Times of India, on October 20 at 2.30 pm, a 48-year-old Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) bus driver named O Yadaiah suffered a fatal heart attack at the wheel. Despite the pain, he put duty first and safely parked the vehicle at the Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station in Gowliguda before collapsing.

Even though he was quickly taken to Osmania General Hospital, doctors could not save him. He had been hired as a fill-in for drivers on strike and his third trip became his last. G Santosh, the conductor on the bus was quoted saying,

“It was his presence of mind that saved so many lives. Not only of those inside the bus but also those waiting at the packed bus station. We could hear him scream in pain, yet he did not stop the bus until he safely parked it.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with the selfless man’s bereaved wife Saritha and 18-year-old son Venkatesh in this difficult time.
