Hotstar Servers Choked During ‘Game of Thrones’ Premiere, And Seven Hells Broke Loose On Web

Game-of-Thrones-Servers

With the movement and promise of ‘Torrent Morghulis, minutes after America and hours before torrents’, Hotstar is bringing ‘Game of Thrones’ to India. Good news, right? Well, only for those who could watch it seamlessly. But, there’s a section of the audiences who were mighty pissed when servers choked right when they planned to watch it.

Umm, that happened. On the day of the season seven premiere. At 7.30 a.m. And, people were not at all happy. Naturally, they took to Twitter to share their woes and here we are sharing it all with you.

1. Probably.

2. Part of me agrees.

3. Buffering = Suffering

4. People went all, Kya hua tera vaada?

5. Some faced a different issue altogether.

6. Some desiness there.

7. When you need it the most.

8. Fail, it was. Though, temporary.

9. Something went wrong.

10. ALL CAPS angry!

11. That timing. Not spoiling.

12. But then, it happened.

13. That sad reality.

14. Apt, much?

15. Uh-oh! HS got cussed too.

The company is asking people to restart the app or try clearing cookies and cache.

But, still! People are major pissed and HS dissing torrents didn’t go down too well. Hope the next Monday will be a better one for the servers and GOTians get to watch it smoothly. Warna people know what to do! (P.S. Not promoting piracy in any way here, people).

Update:

Mr. Ajit Mohan, CEO, Hotstar issued a statement on Monday evening saying:

“Game of Thrones Season 7 premiered this morning in India, exclusively on Hotstar Premium. As a service, we are proud that we have built a platform that can handle big surges in viewership. This morning, however, we faced an unprecedented surge in interest around the opening of the new season of Game of Thrones which resulted in a service disruption of about 8 minutes. While we are delighted that fans around the country wholeheartedly embraced our message of Torrents Morghulis [Torrents Must Die], we are deeply apologetic for the service disruption. Server Morghulis was not the desired outcome at all! Service is fully up now and we are delighted that fans of the show are devouring the first episode on Hotstar Premium.”
