Here’s what BS Sidhu, DGP Uttarakhand had to say:

Doctors were of the view that horse might lose its life by tomorrow morning due to the spread of gangrene. So they have decided to amputate leg urgently.

Luckily, the doctors fixed the animal’s fractures by external fixation by a team of 10 doctors. In an attempt to stop the spread of gangrene, the doctors amputated its leg.

The police official informed that the blood supply had stopped to the injured area and the only option was to amputate its leg.
