So this Friday the 13th, we’ve curated a list for all of you. And trust me, it’s not for the fainthearted. So dare yourself to have a movie night with your pals as you cling on to the blanket and cover your eyes because what’s to come is eerie and sinister and here to get you.
1 . Gerald’s Game
The 2017 psychological horror film revolves around a couple, Jessie and Gerald who have taken time off and gone to an isolated lake house. To enact a rape fantasy, Gerald cuffs Jessie to the bedpost but in a twist of events, dies of a heart attack. There’s no body for miles at end, no one can listen to her screams, get ready to have your heart racing as you watch these chain of events unfold. More than anything, you may never want to add handcuffs to spice up your sex life again.
2. A Quiet Place
The newly released 2018 horror flick will have you trembling with fear as you witness this cinematic masterpiece. It revolves around the premise that in a few years our world will be commanded by murderous, sightless creatures endowed with extraordinarily good hearing. The few humans left must remain as silent as they can to make it. The Emily Blunt starrer will have you at the edge of your seat throughout.
3. Ouija: Origin of Evil
Did you ever play with the Ouija board in school? Yes the ones where you’d call spirits and have them answer questions for you. Trust me, you’re not going to have the guts to do that anymore. The 2016 supernatural horror movie revolves around a mother and her two girls start using the board thinking that they’re able to communicate with their dead father. Little do they know the spirit that is slowly gaining control of their life is actually straight out of their worst nightmares.
4. Truth Or Dare
An innocent party game turned into a terrifying reality, this 2018 supernatural horror film will make you scream along with the characters. The newly released movie revolves around a group of friends in Mexico in a horrible whirlwind of life and death. Pay the ultimate price if you don’t answer the question honestly, or fail to complete the task. So do you dare to Truth Or Dare this movie night?
5. Get Out
The award-winning movie narrates the story of a black boyfriend who agrees to visit his white girl friend’s house. However, on reaching he notices something very weird in the air. There are strange hints in the house but he can’t manage to figure out exactly what’s going on. The 2017 horror film will have you biting your nails.
6. Babadook
It’s got creepy children books, kids who have a tendency for violence and a character for a pop up book who seems to follow his readers. The 2014 Australian horror film is going to make you think twice before picking up the book because “you can’t get rid of the Babadook.”
7. The Witch
The 2015Â period supernatural horror film is the story of a family that turns on each other after their baby is abducted under the watch of their eldest daughter. The woods aren’t safe they said, don’t wander alone they said, follow this gripping tale as your scramble for the blanket to hide behind it.
8. The Ritual
A group of four regular guys on a hiking trip- what could go wrong? Apparently a lot. The group takes a short cut but manage to lose themselves in the dense forest. They are haunted by occult symbols, an unseen monster who is always behind them and crumbling relationships. This 2017 production is here to take you for a ride.
9. The Purge: Anarchy
This 2013 dystopian horror flick did so well at the box-office that it was turned into a franchise. The second and third part are already out and the fourth is all set to release in July of this year. So binge watch these and be shook to your core because everything you know about anarchy is about to change.
10. It Follows
The 2014 indie horror film shows how a sort of curse in the form of a compelling creature follows whoever receives it. Passed on by sexual intercourse it reaches a college going woman who had sex with her boyfriend. The being can take any form and one must pass on the curse before time catches up.
11. Unfriended
It’s a 2014 found footage supernatural horror movie that is told entirely through a Skype group chat. High school student, Laura Barns had committed suicide after a user had uploaded a viral video of her passing out and defecating herself at a party. An anonymous user joins their group chat who they first dismiss as a bot and then a prank, but the innocent video chat between friends takes a bloody turn.
12. It
A seven-year-old kid gets abducted by a clown in the sewer and fails to return. This sparks a young Bill and his friends to go look for the kid who is Bill’s brother. They soon discover that the town has been plagued with disappearances of kids for years and no one is stopping it. The 2017 supernatural horror film is the one you need to watch if jump starts are your thing.
