8 Horror Movies Of 2017 That Are Making Us Go, The Year Is Dark And Full Of Horrors!

A dimly lit room, a creaking floorboard, a shadow lurking in the darkness, 3 am wake-up time, dogs suddenly barking or a crow cawing, extreme coldness. These are the sure shot signs of paranormal activities around one and trust me I freak out, even at the thought of any of these.

After having watched horror movies after mustering a lot of courage, now it seems kind of addictive. And, who doesn’t love a spine-chilling-pant-shitting movie? Ok! I agree not everyone does. But, if you’re a fan of the genre, then I am pretty sure you are ardently waiting for this year’s releases. Which are, you may ask? Here, have a dekko!

1. Annabelle: Creation

James Wan brings yet another horror offering. Directed by David F. Sandberg, the fourth movie in The Conjuring series takes us to Annabelle’s creation. And, the trailer left our mouths dry with fear.

 

2. Flatliners

Release date: September 29, 2017 (US)

This sci-fi psychological horror which is a sequel to the 1990 film of the same name, which starred Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts, William Baldwin, Oliver Platt, and Kevin Bacon. The trailer of the film looked pretty scary and we are waiting for this one ardently.

 

3. IT

Release Date: September 8, 2017

Also known as the It: Part 1 – The Losers’ Club, the film is based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name that released in 1986. Tommy Lee Wallace made a miniseries on it in 1990. And, from the looks of the trailer of 2017, I am pretty freaked out, TBH!

 

4. The Amityville: The Awakening

The tenth movie in the Amityville franchise, this one stars Bella Thorne, Cameron Monaghan, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Thomas Mann and others. A family moves into the haunted Amityville house and what follows next is a scary ride, of course.

 

5. The Dark Tower

Based on Stephen King’s eight book series of the same name, the film has a cast you would kill (or be killed) to see. Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey, Walter Patrick and Tom Taylor. The film is said to be a sequel to the seven-part book series. The trailer has us intrigued and impressed. “Death always wins.”

 

6. Saw: Legacy

The eighth film in the Saw series will revolve around events that followed over a decade after the death of the Jigsaw killer. When it is Saw, you know goriness is in store.

 

7. Wish Upon

The John R. Leonetti (one who directed Annabelle, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation) directorial is one we are expecting to be a spine-chiller. A mysterious music box that grants wishes, but the price is hefty. Would you wish upon anyone to possess that box?

 

8. The Killing of A Sacred Deer

Release Date: November 3, 2017

The Nicole Kidman-Colin Farrell starrer was the official entry competing for the Palme d’Or in the main competition section at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. The film did bag Best Cinematography award there and at other festivals. Our interests are really piqued for this one too.
