You Can Now Buy The World’s Costliest Home In Hong Kong Only For ₹3000 Crores

Growing up in India, we’ve always seen everybody bargaining. From essential day-to-day items to luxury products, we desis are always looking to get the most at a discounted price. However, Hong Kong doesn’t play like that. For them, everything’s expensive no matter what state it is in.

That is why a four-bedroom house in the Peak neighbourhood is on sale at a whopping ₹3000 crores. Bloomberg reports that,

“Don’t expect a palatial estate though. The modestly-sized house at 24 Middle Gap Road sits on 16,330 square-feet of land, or just over a third of an acre, and comes with a swimming pool, parking for two cars and some dated 1990s decor.”

That’s right. The house itself is pretty modest. However, the exclusive address and the opportunity to stay at one of Hong Kong’s most “sought-after enclaves” is what is drawing in the big bucks.

However, despite the hefty price, the owner might’ve to spend some extra money after buying it according to Lawrence Brown, senior consultant at Executive Homes Hong Kong Ltd.,

“It’s more about the land it’s on than the house itself. The house is quite old. If they are going to pay that much, they would probably knock it down or put another nicer house.”

Well, that’s certainly a bummer.

Nevertheless, according to The Telegraph, it is currently the most expensive house in the world and that’s something to boast about.

“It trumps the listing price of Villa Les Cedres, a 188-year-old, 14-bedroom mansion in the south of France, which carried an asking price of €350m (₹2000 Crore) when it was put up for sale last year.”

This might be a shocking thing for us, but these price tags are a common occurrence in Hong Kong. Just in 2016, a house at 15 Gough Hill Road on the Peak was sold at HK$2.1 billion.

That said, if you had ₹3000 crore in your pocket right now, would you buy this house?
