People Share Stories Of Many Homes Not Celebrating Diwali As They Lost Loved Ones To Covid

Many of us took the day off for Diwali. We went shopping. Bought fairy lights, diyas, new clothes, and mithai. Lights were put up, the diyas were lit, and our homes were decorated with flowers. But this year, there were many homes in which there was grim silence and darkness. Lights weren’t put up and families mourned the loss of a loved one.

As many people lost their lives due to Covid, several families refrained from celebrating festivals, such as Diwali. One person took to Reddit to share a picture of his housing society and claimed that half the houses didn’t put up Diwali lights.
