Shabana Azmi Shares Pic Of Signboard Prohibiting People From ‘Eating Carpet’ At Chennai Airport

We often spot multiple signboards at metro stations, on the streets and even at airports that guide us within the premises and lay down the rules or code of conduct. And for someone like me who is the worst at navigating their way in public places, they are the guiding light. But sometimes they can be confusing due to poor translation. Also, at times the do’s and don’t’s can be misspelled and downright hilarious. Well, one such signboard has got netizen’s attention and is making them go nuts with laughter.

Actress Shabana Azmi recently shared a picture of a signboard on her social media. The signboard is reportedly from Chennai airport and reads, “Eating carpet strictly prohibited.” Ya, that’s exactly what it reads.

Although the Hindi translation of the signboard reads, “Farsh par khaana sakht mana hai”, which translates to “eating on the floor is strictly prohibited”, the airport authorities clearly failed in conveying the same message correctly in English.

The picture that Azmi shared was earlier shared in 2015 by Justin Rosslee but became the talk of the town after the actress reposted it. People were intrigued by the blunder and hilariously mocked the airport authorities for the mess.

Looks like the airport authorities used Google translate to covey the message, word for word. LOL!
