Haryana Cop Pens Accused Killers’ Car Number On Palm Before His Death, Gets 5 Arrested

Every once in a while, you come across an act of bravery that not only inspires you but also sends chills down your spine. Like, recently, a Haryana cop left a crucial clue to identify an accused before he was killed.

A few days back, two cops were killed by unidentified assailants while they were on night duty, reports TOI. Special police officer (SPO) Kaptan Singh and constable Ravinder Kumar were patrolling the area near Butana check-post, which falls under Sonepat’s Baroda police station when they had an encounter with the accused.

Despite a curfew in place, the accused were reportedly drinking in a car parked on the side of the road, reports HT. On learning about their misdeed, the police officers tried to break up the drinking. However, it led to an argument, and the accused reportedly attacked them with sharp weapons. As things got heated, they allegedly killed the cops and sped off in their vehicle.

Astonishingly one of the murdered cops, Ravinder, 28, managed to scribble the registration number of their vehicle on his palm before he was killed, reports NDTV. Thankfully his heroic and prescient act helped in the identification of the accused. Without this vital clue, the cops would face an uphill battle in identifying the killers.

The number was noticed during the post-mortem. Manoj Yadava, Haryana police chief was quoted saying,

“It was a basic policing skill that our brave Constable Ravinder Singh displayed before losing his life. He had scribbled the vehicle number on his hand which was noticed during the post-mortem.”

He also said that Ravinder Singh would be recommended for a posthumous police medal. Later, Haryana Police confirmed that five of the six accused in the murder had been identified and arrested, reports the Deccan Herald.

Hats off to the cop’s bravery. His presence of mind led the police to his killers. Our prayers are with the family of the deceased.
