Harry Potter, Tintin And Asterix To Be Part Of The ICSE English Syllabus From 2017. WOAH!

Remember those English classes back in school when students were forced to look for deeper meaning behind cryptic statements made by authors and poets from centuries ago?

What the author said: “A curtain covered the window. It was blue.”

What the English teacher interprets: “Blue signifies the melancholy in the author’s life. He suffers from a deep sense of grief and regret as the blue curtain covers the window which represents his disappointing life.”

What the author meant: “The curtain was fucking blue!”

Well, that’s all about to change! ICSE will be introducing the Harry Potter series as a part of its syllabus for middle-school students (3rd to 8th std) beginning in the academic year 2017-18.

That’s quite a radical change from the earlier syllabus which was primarily focused on authors and poets from the victorian era.

Along with Harry Potter, the board will also be introducing Tintin, Amar Chitra Katha, Asterix and American cartoonist Art Spiegelman’s Holocaust saga ‘Maus’ for all middle-school students.

If I were back in school right now, I would’ve totally nailed every single English exam!

So jealous of these kids!
