7 Mind-Blowing ‘Harry Potter’ Fan Theories You Should Know About

7 are the years that one spends at Hogwarts. 7 were the Weasley siblings and the number of books written. 7 horcruxes were made. 7 is the most powerful magical number and Harry Potter fandom is spread all over the 7 continents of the world. No wonder it is the biggest and strongest fandom of all and they have some of the most brilliant fan theories about the world of Harry Potter.

Here are 7 of the most bizarre fan theories which are ‘riddikulus’ly mind boggling –

1. Harry Potter is immortal

Remember that Sybill Trelawny’s prophecy claimed that “..either must die at the hand of the other..”!! This led to the implication that Voldemort can only be killed by Harry and vice-versa. Now, if we consider that then another implication of the prophecy could be that since Voldemort is now dead, Harry cannot be killed by anything anymore and hence, is now immortal! Think of the sacrifice Harry made!!

2. Dumbledore is actually Ron Weasley

True, both are red-heads. Both like candy and chocolates. Both have big hands. Both craved power and to be recognised at some point. Both lost a sibling they adored. Also Dumbledore somehow seems to have prior knowledge of everything that’s happening in the wizarding world. Plus, remember Philosopher’s Stone where Ron not only won McGonagall’s magical chess, but took the place of a knight and sacrificed himself so that Harry could go forward – now that’s something familiar about Dumbledore, right? He was always acting as a knight to a King, namely, Harry. So maybe, just maybe Dumbledore is actually a time travelling Ron Weasley!

3. Muggles already had a war with wizards

That might be true! Because strangely the wizarding world always feels the need to hide itself from muggles. They conceal themselves in muggle clothing when out in the muggle world, aren’t allowed to use magic unless they are of age, have to take permission from the muggle government while arranging the Tri-Wizard tournament and seem to either hate muggles or find them way too fascinating! Even the “Ministry of Magic” sounds more like a department rather than a Government. So, what if all this stems from a previous war between muggles and wizards which didn’t go too well for wizards and hence the precautions? Because to be honest, muggles are way more advanced in multiple ways than the wizards, in terms of communication, ammunition and life conditions.

4. J.K. Rowling is actually Rita Skeeter

There is this fan theory that J.K. Rowling is actually the sly reporter Rita Skeeter. She got kicked out of the wizarding world because of her illegal ways of extracting news and then fabricating them. To make a living she’s writing about her previous world and selling those as mere stories because nobody in the muggle world actually knows about the existence of wizards.

5. Voldemort, Snape, and Harry are the Three Brothers from The Tale of the Three Brothers

And now that we think of it, it actually makes sense! The first brother wanted a wand that would “..win battles for its owner. A wand worthy of a wizard who had conquered Death”. Voldemort, power hungry, thought himself to the “wizard who had conquered Death”, wanted that wand and finally died for power, just like the first brother. The second brother wanted a stone to resurrect the dead and finally died for lost love, just like Snape died because of his love for Lilly. And the last brother asked for Death’s invisibility cloak and after a long life, “gave it to his son. And then, he greeted Death as an old friend,”. We know Harry was not afraid of dying, and welcomed it when he went to Aragog’s cave in the forbidden forest in Deathly Hallows to meet Voldemort. Also, JKR herself said that Harry’s son James probably took the cloak eventually. From the books we already know that Harry descends from Ignotus Peverell and Voldemort from Cadmus, two of the original brothers from the tale. Only Snape’s ancestry is shrouded but we can always guess!

6. Dursleys hated Harry because he was a horcrux

There is a fan theory that actually defends the Dursleys! In Deathly Hallows it is revealed that Voldemort accidentally turned Harry into a horcrux the night his killing curse backfired. So is the fact that continuous contact with a horcrux makes people bitter and mean, as the locket did to Ron just in few days. So perhaps the Dursleys were just reacting to the horcrux Harry, because let’s face it, they did take an orphan in and fed and raised him, though not doing a very good job of it. It was only the cursed effect of a horcrux that made them so cruel towards Harry.

7. Harry imagined everything and actually never left the cupboard under the stairs

This one is the most tear inducing fan theory of all! According to some, Harry Potter never left the cupboard under the stair to go to Hogwarts. He was a victim of severe child abuse and to escape his traumatic reality he created an alternative reality of a magical world in his head, where he is the hero. He imagines being rescued from his current situation, creates revenge plots such as blowing up aunt Marge or giving Dudley a pig’s tail. It is a world where he gets plenty of delicious food to eat and is not poor and lives a happy life after overcoming all the problems.
