Hardik Pandya & KL Rahul Finally Pay For Sexist Comments On The Koffee Couch, Fined ₹20 Lakh Each

The careers of Indian cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul took a massive jolt after the duo made an appearance on Bollywood director Karan Johar’s candid chat show, Koffee With Karan. The controversial episode which had the two promising talents making misogynistic remarks on women sparked massive outrage on social media platforms and also forced Hotstar to take it down.

Both Pandya and Rahul were handed a 2-match suspension by the BCCI for their misconduct on the talk show. While both of them seemed to have moved on from the forgetful memory, an investigation was being carried out by the Committee Of Administrators (CoA), who appointed a special ombudsman for the case.

And now, BCCI Ombudsman DK Jain has finally given his ultimatum on the case.

In the order published on the official BCCI website, Jain wrote that both Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul has been asked to pay a fine of Rs. 20 Lakh each for their sexist comments.

However, he also mentioned that no further action will be taken on the case as the cricketers have already paid the price by serving a 2-match suspension and have also issued an unconditional apology.

According to NDTV, the fine of Rs. 20 Lakh each will include Rs 1 lakh each to “each of the most deserving widows of ten constables in para-military forces who have lost their lives while on duty, through ‘Bharat Ke Veer App”.

They have also been ordered to deposit Rs. 10 Lakh each in the fund “created by the Cricket Association for the blind”. A time of 4 weeks from the date of order (April 19th, 2019) has been given to the cricketers to make the payment.

We hope Pandya and Rahul to take this as a lesson and move ahead in their lives.
