Back in January 2020, Indian star cricketer Hardik Pandya got engaged to the love of his life, Nataša Stanković. In June, the couple announced their pregnancy and in July, they welcomed an adorable baby boy to the family. It was in February this year that the couple had a white and a traditional Hindu wedding.
However, in a video that has gone viral on social media, Hardik was captured negotiating with his sister-in-law Pankhuri during the ‘Joota Churai’ ceremony. Pankhuri demanded Rs 1 lakh but it was Hardik who offered to pay Rs 5 lakh to get his shoes back!
Those who do not know, the joota churai ritual has been a part of Hindu weddings since time immemorial. The sister-in-law of the groom steals his wedding shoes and demands a hefty amount from him only after which will the groom get his shoes back!
In the video, Hardik Pandya asks Pankhuri, “Arey tum bolo na kitna chahiye?”
She asks for Rs 1 lakh. But Hardik first says Rs 2 lakh but then goes on to say, “Paanch lakh ek rupaye,” which means Rs 5 lakh and 1 rupee.
