In a world often overshadowed by stories of dishonesty and misconduct, there are moments that restore our faith in humanity. Recently, an incident in Gurugram surrounding an autorickshaw driver highlighted the honesty and goodwill that still exist among us which was shared on LinkedIn by a man named Arnav Deshmukh.
A few days ago, around 1 PM, a young woman was in a hurry while relocating and took an autorickshaw from the roadside. Upon reaching her destination, she paid the autorickshaw driver via UPI and hurriedly got off, only to realize moments later that she had left her bag behind in the auto. The bag contained essential documents like her Aadhaar card, PAN card, credit and debit cards, and a gold chain with a diamond pendant – a precious family heirloom gifted by her late grandmother and mother.
With only the UPI ID of the autorickshaw driver as a lead, the woman and her friends tried reaching out to him through the UPI messenger, but their efforts went in vain. They started closing all debit and credit card transactions, thinking the bag was lost forever.
By 4 PM, they decided to seek help from the Gurugram Police. The police immediately offered assistance. They took the woman and her friends on their route in a police vehicle, checking if any CCTV cameras had captured the autorickshaw’s license plate.
As the search continued, around 5.30 to 6 PM, a ray of hope emerged. The property manager called, delivering the news they had been desperately waiting to hear – “Madam, an auto driver has come with your bag.”
With tears of relief, they rushed back to find that everything in the bag was intact. The honest auto owner, Manirul Jaman, had gone out of his way to return the lost belongings.
