Not many in this world of billions would reject a plate of freshly fried Gulab Jamuns. Those soft, hot, and berry-sized balls dunked in sugar syrup are not sweets but weaknesses, and I can literally die for them.
And if you are one like me and hail from the country of Pakistan, there is some good news for you.
The classic Indian dessert has been declared as the national sweet of Pakistan. Yes, you have heard that right.
The announcement was made on Twitter from the Government of Pakistan’s official Twitter account via an interesting poll. The poll which had Gulab Jamun, Jalebi and Barfi as the top three, saw the Jamun emerge victoriously with 47 per cent of the votes.

Jalebi took the second spot with 34 per cent while Barfi settled for the third with just 19 per cent.
Around 15,000 people voted in the poll and the final decision gave birth to a huge debate on Twitter. People also raised their voices over the fact that the official handle of the Govt. of Pakistan only has around 5 Lakh followers while the country’s population stands at a whopping 19.7 crores.
However, while some granted the result happily, the others battled it with their personal list of sweets.
