Gujarat Groom’s Dad Elopes With Bride’s Mom Once Again After Returning Home

A Gujarati ‘Samdhi-Samdhan jodi’ made headlines after they ran away last month, days before their children’s wedding. Romance reportedly rekindled between the alleged ex-lovers of old days when their paths crossed years later bringing their children’s wedding to a halt.

The alleged love-birds who ran away to Ujjain, however, returned back home after two weeks, apparently giving into to the societal pressure and backlash that they had been facing publically. The two reportedly kept in touch with each other on phone, reports Ahmadabad Mirror. And, ‘it’s never too late to do anything’ they say, so, the couple decided to fight back and eloped once again.

The woman had reportedly moved to her parents’ home as her husband refused to accept her. The man and the woman left their home in Surat and Navsari respectively a couple of days back. They are now living together in a rented apartment in Surat, reports News 18.

Due to parental pressure, the couple couldn’t marry each other and parted their ways years back. Decades after separation, the ex-lovers met a social gathering and bonded together. They decided to marry off their children to bind their incomplete love. “It was an opportunity to bind our love. We wanted our children to flourish in the love we could not achieve,” the man said.

The families met and their children’s wedding was fixed to take place on February 14. The woman’s husband, however, became suspicious of his wife’s closeness with the groom’s father. He had reportedly warned her saying that this could break her daughter’s wedding. So, the couple decided to elope.

On the 10th of January, the couple walked out of their respective homes. While the man took a friend’s motorcycle wearing a shirt gifted by the woman and carried Rs. 45000 from home, the woman wore a saree gifted by the man. “She took nothing from her home; neither clothes nor jewelry. We bought clothes from the money I carried,” he said.

The couple then moved to Ujjain together and planned to settle in Surat or Rajkot. But constant backlash and guilt of spoiling their children’s life did not spare them. “Shalini felt she had wronged her children and loved them too much. She realised she still had feelings for her husband. I could not forget my kids either. We made a pact to end our lives either by throwing ourselves before a train or consuming poison. If we could not live together, we decided to die together,” he said.

The man recalled that the woman had once called her husband from Ujjain. “She told him she wanted to return. He told her that he loved her , and all would be forgiven if she returns. When she called again the next day, her brother-in-law picked the call and told her that they never wished to see her again. She was shattered. She asked me if I would keep her if her husband rejected her. I said yes, and we decided to return,” he said.

When the couple returned home, the man’s wife and family accepted him back but the woman’s husband refused to do. “The woman’s husband told us he was not prepared to accept her back. So, her father took her home to Surat,” Girish Pandya, SP, Navsari said.

“My daughter is heartbroken and depressed. She is unwilling to talk to anyone. She knows she has made a mistake and takes responsibility for her actions. he just wants to go back to her husband and family,” the woman’s father said.

The man too pleaded before the woman’s husband and asked him to forgive her but all in vain. The man however assured that he will convince his wife and keep the woman with him in another home. He won’t abandon her, he said.

“Everything is fair in love and war,” and the couple just personified it, once again! We hope things fall in place for the couple and their families and their lives get back to normal soon.
