UP Bride Calls Off Wedding After Groom Kisses Her On Stage In Front Of 300 Guests

Indian weddings are OTT because apart from the grandeur, the lavish food spread, and the sho-sha, they are also melodramatic AF. Remember how a bride called off her wedding after the friends of the groom dragged her to the dance floor without her will?

Well, here’s another dulhan who decided to call it quits on her wedding day after the groom kissed her on the stage.

According to a report by Times Now, the incident happened at Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh. The bride and the groom were sitting on the stage after the varmala ceremony when the groom caught his to-be-wife by surprise and kissed her in front of the 300 guests that were present at the venue.

Unlike others, this 23-year-old bride became furious with the groom’s actions and instantly walked off the stage and called the police. She said that he touched her inappropriately and that she’s also “doubtful about his character”.

She was quoted saying, “When he kissed me, I felt insulted. He did not care about my self-respect and misbehaved in front of several guests. How will he act in the future? I have decided not to go with him.”

According to the bride’s mother, the groom did the action to win a bet with his friends, reported the Times Of India.

“The groom was provoked by his friends. We tried to convince my daughter but she refused to marry him. We have decided to wait for a few days and let her take some time to decide,” she said.

However, the groom’s side claimed that the bride herself made a bet with the groom asking him to kiss her in front of everyone.

When the cops intervened and called both parties to the police station, the bride denied the claim that she made a bet with the groom.

On hearing their ordeal, the cops decided to cool the matter down and gave the two families a couple of days to make the final decision as the couple had already tied the knot by then.

“Technically the couple is married as the rituals were done by the time the incident happened. We will decide what to do after waiting for a couple of days for things to cool down,” the cops said.

Seems like the bride was not impressed with the groom’s affectionate gesture and can’t trust him anymore. What do you think? Was the bride correct in calling off the wedding after this incident?
