Govinda Says Kader Khan Was ‘Father Figure’ To Him, Gets Slammed By Kader Khan’s Son

If you are a 90s kid, your lazy Sunday afternoons must have been incomplete without Govinda and Kader Khan weaving their magic on screen. The duo, who were probably a match made in heaven, came together to redefine the art of comedy and make our childhood worthwhile.

To name a few, Govinda and Kader Khan have worked in movies like Dulhe Raja, Coolie No.1, Aankhen, Kunwara, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Raja Babu, Aunty No.1, Joru Ka Ghulam and Akhiyon Se Goli Maare.

In an extremely unfortunate happening, Kader Khan Ji passed away on New Year’s Eve (31st December 2018) at a hospital in Canada. The iconic actor, writer and director was suffering from a prolonged illness and was 81 years of age when he left us, just a day after the demise of legendary Indian film director Mrinal Sen.

However, in a bid to pay tribute to the legend, Govinda took to Twitter to share a heartfelt note. The 55-year-old actor not only termed Kader Khan as his ‘ustaad’ but also his father figure. Highlighting the incident as a great loss for the entire film industry, Govinda expressed his sadness at the situation.

But Govinda’s comments were not enough to melt Kader Khan’s son Sarfaraz, who chose to slam the actor. According to Times Now, Sarfaraz lashed out at Govinda for not calling them even once after Kader Ji’s death. He also mentioned that Govinda also did not bother to inquire about the health of the man, whom he calls a ‘father figure’ when he was alive.

“Please ask Govinda how many times he inquired about his father figure’s health. Has he even bothered to call us even once after my father’s passing away? This is the way our film industry has become”.

Sarfaraz Khan went to add that there is no real affection left in the film industry for these legends who have contributed largely to the world of cinema. He highlighted the act of getting clicked with these veterans and posting them on social media as the only way of showing respect.

There are no real feelings for those who have contributed to Indian cinema when they’re no longer active. The top guns may be seen getting clicked with these retired veterans. But the affection goes only as far as photographs. No more. Look at the condition in which Lalita Pawarji and Mohan Chotiji died. Luckily, my father had three sons to look after him. What about those who die with no financial and emotional support?

Rest in peace, Kader Khan Ji.
