Mizoram Man Anonymously Pays ₹10 Lakh To Clear Loans Of 4 Strangers In Distress

Every once in a while we come across selfless people whose random acts of kindness make the world a better place. Remember, how a couple adopted an abandoned newborn or how a jogger helped a homeless man? Well, it’s heroes like these that often restore our faith in humanity.

Speaking of which, an anonymous man cleared the loans of four strangers who were struggling to repay the bank due to the COVID-19 lockdown. A 52-year-old brain tumor patient and a man struggling with his business were among beneficiaries of the unexpected gesture by an anonymous Aizawl-based businessman, reports Republic World. The man discreetly paid off their dues amounting to lakhs of rupees.

The woman, Rodingliani, had taken a loan from SBI’s main branch in the city for her treatment in Kolkata. She had borrowed a sum of around Rs 4 lakh. However, after her recovery, the widow who has two daughters, found it challenging to repay the sum.

“I got a call from the bank that a good samaritan wants to pay off certain loan amounts and that the bank had selected mine in that list,” Rodingliani was quoted saying by the Indian Express.

Likewise, Muana L Fanai had taken a loan of around Rs 2.5 lakh to start a poultry farm. However, the businessman too ran in trouble due to the lockdown. On learning that his loan was paid off, he called the man a guardian angel.

The mystery man who is an Aizawl-based trader doesn’t want any recognition. Bank authorities said he didn’t want to come in the spotlight at all. The SBI branch’s assistant general manager, Sheryl Vanchhong, was quoted saying, “He called us and said that in these times of distress, he wants to help.”

“He is a customer of our bank. He said that he wants to help those who had mortgaged their property against loans which they were finding difficult to pay. His budget was Rs 10 lakh.”

The bank selected 4 people who were struggling to clear their dues. The man made an online transfer for a total of ₹9,96,365 to SBI’s Aizawl branch, reports The Hindu. The anonymous man closed the loan accounts of these people in need. We applaud the good samaritan’s act of kindness.
