Goa To Ban Drinking On Beaches From 15th August, Guilty To Be Fined Heavily

Goa is arguably the most popular tourist spot in India. The vibrant colorful place makes up for a perfect vacay with friends, alongside the lovely palm trees and marvelous coastlines. And it would actually be tough to find an Indian who has not fancied a trip to the evergreen tourist hub, at least once in his/her life.

This brings us to today’s news and let me warn you that it is a heartbreaker. For all those who haven’t been to Goa, the time is limited.

No. Goa isn’t being restricted from tourists but CM Manohar Parrikar has announced that drinking alcohol in public in Goa can land you in trouble. Yes, you heard that right. Enjoying the sunset on the beaches, sipping on a beer or two, will no more be a reality. And that’s enough reason to crib for a party lover!

According to India Today, Parrikar made the announcement while addressing a gathering after opening the incubation centre at the state-run Economic Development Corporation (EDC).

The rule will come into action from the 15th of August and people caught drinking openly will have to pay a hefty fine. Speaking about the same, the Chief Minister said,

“There is something called civic responsibility. The footpath which is developed along the river in Panaji city is being used by the people for drinking beer.”

“There will be heavy fine for drinking in public from the next month. We will implement the decision from August 15 onwards.

Not only that, but people will also be held guilty for littering the city with beer bottles. Also, the state government will penalise people riding two-wheelers without a helmet. The police will fine two-wheeler riders who are driving without a helmet and tell them the benefits of wearing a helmet while driving.

With an extremely heavy heart, we say ‘Goa will never be the same again’.
