The night we have been patiently waiting for, arrived in Hollywood. It was a starry and golden affair at The Golden Globe Awards 2017. With all the big names from Hollywood and TV under one roof, the evening turned out to be epic.

1. The Opening number

Host Jimmy Fallon ringed in the ceremony in style with the help of stars like Amy Adams, John Travolta, Nicole Kidman, Evan Rachel Wood, Rami Malik, kids from ‘Stranger Things’, Kit Harington, and more. Best part of the opening song was when he started singing his version of ‘City of Stars’ and Ryan Reynolds did the whistle part. There dollops of Justin Timberlake-Jimmy Fallon romance, too. Oh! And Barbara from Stranger Things is ALIVE!

 

2. Jimmy Fallon’s opening monologue

Jimmy gave a made-up monologue as the teleprompter broke in the beginning of the show. But he made use of his thinking on his feet ability, well. And, poked fun at Ryan Gosling, Chris Rock, Casey Affleck, Matt Damon and others present there. He even had a ‘Game of Thrones’ – Trump reference as he said if people were wondering what would’ve happened if King Joffrey lived, they should wait 12 more days.

 

3. Brad Pitt’s unexpected visit that stole the show

Receiving the loudest cheer upon his stage visit was Brad Pitt. The 53-year-old was the hottest surprise of the night and people were smiling ear to ear, in addition to ladies blushing seeing the tuxedo-ed man. He introduced the nominated film ‘Moonlight’, which bagged the Best Drama Motion Picture award.

 

4. Meryl Streep’s powerful speech

Hollywood legend, Meryl Streep was presented with the prestigious Cecil B. Demille Award by Viola Davis. Even though she had a sore throat and had lost her voice, her extremely powerful speech made quite an impact. Without naming Donald Trump, she targeted him and resentment of him being President Elect was very clear in her words. It is now one of the most talked about bit of the award night.

 

5. Ryan Gosling’s win and Ryan Reynolds-Andrew Garfield’s smooch

The ‘La La Land’ actor, Ryan Gosling bagged the Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy award. His contemporaries Ryan Reynolds and Andrew Garfield, celebrated their loss by smooching each other. Rad, right? Seconds after that Gosling floored everyone with his acceptance speech. #Haaye

 

6. ‘La La Land’ created history

With seven Golden Globe wins, Damien Chazelle’s musical masterpiece created history. The Emma Stone- Ryan Gosling starrer was nominated in seven categories and won in all seven. That’s a record!

 

7. Priyanka Chopra was the Golden girl

Our desi gurl Priyanka Chopra not only left a ‘golden’ impression at the red carpet, but she even owned the stage when she presented the award to Billy Bob Thorton for the Best Actor in a TV Series (Drama).

 

8. Priyanka with Meryl Streep

Priyanka had a fan-girl moment with Meryl Streep. She even quoted the legend from her speech during the night. Woah!

 

9. Dev Patel and Sunny Powar introduced ‘Lion’

Dev Patel and li’l boy Sunny Pawar took to stage to introduce a clip from their next movie ‘Lion’ which also stars Nicole Kidman. Sunny looked adorable in the tux and very cutely made the announcement.

 

10. Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig sad-but-funny story

The ‘Despicable Me’ duo cited their sad but funny anecdotes about watching animated movies. Carell’s memory involved him seeing his father the last time as his mother asked for a divorce outside the theatre. And even Kristen Wiig shared her story, which was equally sad. But incited laughter.

 

11. Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ pretended to be a goofy DJ
