A fun vacation for a British family turned into horror when they lost their 9-year-old kid in Spain. The little girl had arrived in the country on a half-term holiday with her parents and two siblings on Saturday. After dropping their luggage at the hotel, the family went for a walk at a nearby mall in Fuengirola, reported SUR.
The girl began to fall ill as soon as she tasted an ice cream on her outing. The family returned to their hotel where her condition worsened and she apparently suffered a cardiac arrest. They rushed her rushed to Malaga’s children’s hospital soon, where her treatment began.
The girl who was allergic to milk and nuts had suffered an anaphylactic shock after eating ice cream. Anaphylactic shock is an extreme, often life-threatening allergic reaction to an antigen to which the body has become hypersensitive. She was on a life support system for a couple of days at Costa del Sol hospital, near Marbella, where she was later on shifted to, in a critical condition. The girl, however, lost the battle of life on Monday.
The doctors carried an autopsy on Tuesday after which they have confirmed that the cause of death was nothing but the extreme allergic reaction.
The hospital issued a statement regarding the kid’s death to give condolences to her family.
The statement read, “The management at Club La Costa World resort would like to offer their heartfelt condolences to the family following the loss of their daughter on 18 February 2019. Despite the best efforts of doctors and the emergency services, the young girl was placed on life support but subsequently died,” reported Khaleej Times.
Another such case of severe allergic reaction was in news last year when a woman died of eating a sandwich at the London airport. She was allergic to sesame seeds that were present in the sandwich after which she suffered a cardiac arrest in the flight and died.
Life is really uncertain. One must always take extra care of the things that would trouble us or land us in such critical situations.
