Newly-Married Couple Open Wedding Gift 5 Days After Reception, It Explodes Killing Groom

Weddings are a grand affair. It is a happy time for everyone who is present in the venue, to bless the bride and groom for a successful and happy marriage, and shower them with gifts bought with a lot of affection. It must feel truly overwhelming to see the people you love and respect under one roof.

However, not all wedding guests arrive at your wedding with the best intentions and the malicious intent of some can actually become life-threatening. Don’t believe me? This incident will make you say otherwise.

A newly-married couple became a victim of someone’s angst when their wedding gift exploded 5 days later when they opened it in their house. As reported by Odisha TV, the couple received the bomb as a wedding gift during their marriage on February 18. The incident occurred on 23 February 2018 in Patnagarh in Odisha’s Bolangir district.

The lethal explosion resulted in the death of the groom and his grandmother while critically injuring the bride. The groom died on the way to Burla hospital and his grandmother succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at the Bolangir hospital. The bride is still undergoing treatment.

The forensic team along with the Dog squad of the Bolangir police have reached the spot and started an investigation, trying to determine the explosive that was used. According to NDTV, the police are also trying to identify the unknown person who gave the gift to the couple.

It is absolutely awful that somebody would want to kill someone who is just starting out a fresh chapter in their life. It can be speculated by the nature of the crime, that it was a well-thought-out planned murder. We hope the police find the accused responsible for this tragedy.
