It was in class 5 when I first held a geometry box and zindagi mein khushiyon ki jo leherein ayi! I felt like an architect who was about to use a complex apparatus to draw diagrams which not many people could understand. I felt grown-up. I felt I had a purpose!
But soon I realised that most items in the geometry box weren’t of any use to me. The only thing I properly used was the compass and the protractor to measure if my angles were accurate. I already had a pencil, a sharpener, an eraser, and a scale, so to have another set didn’t make much of a difference. Also, to this day, I don’t even know what the divided and triangular scales are for.
Having said that, a woman shared a picture of Twitter which accurately captured such “functions” of all items in a geometry box. According to it, the sole utility of a divider is for kids to draw on wooden benches and that of the triangular scales is to come into use when one loses his/her ruler!
Somehow, most of us ended up losing the eraser and the sharpener, and also, that’s the worst possible pencil one can work with!

People online heavily agreed! Having been reminded of their childhood, many had some serious questions to ask about their beloved geometry box!
Never understood why they gave set squares in geometry box🤔 Never used them in school.

@Veenabhakta what's the significance of the traingle scales? Used them just to draw lines when the 15cm one got lost or broke

LoL! Miss those days, carrying this box to school for years and still not knowing why we needed it at all.

Is there a way for future generations to just purchase a compass and a protractor? If not, then there will come a time when they grow older and ask these very same questions!
