What is the most heartbreaking thing a die-hard fan of any movie franchise or TV series can go through? It’s something that tops even the death of a favourite character. Yes, it’s spoilers! With Game of Thrones making headlines almost every minute of the day, it was difficult not having come across major spoilers while going through the internet? There have been days when I have switched off my phone to avoid spoilers!
But now, according to sources, anybody who has had to deal with major GOT spoilers will get a compensation of £100 (8.8K INR approx)!
A UK company called Endsleigh Insurance Services have announced they will be offering ‘Spoiler Cover’ for GOT fans. This will allow fans to receive compensation for disappointing show experience ruined by spoilers from friends, family, or even social media.
That’s not all. The spoiler-victims also get a NOW TV pass which will allow them to watch all the 8 seasons of the series whenever they want. Although I don’t know how beneficial that is considering the various online streaming sites we now have access to!
However, in order to receive compensation, one has to submit a letter of 100 words explaining how the story was spoilt for them, providing sufficient evidence along with it. There are a limited number of slots available for the compensation and one can also claim it for having undergone spoilers in the past.
Julia Alpan, head of marketing at Endsleigh, said, “With the show historically airing on US screens ahead of the UK, spoilers have always been an issue – so we wanted to address that head-on with the first ever spoiler insurance policy, that will offer financial compensation for anyone whose day is ruined by an unwanted plot reveal.”
If you’re going to get spoilers, might as well make some money out of it!
