Disclaimer: This article is full of spoilers. But you came anyway, so what the hell!
The end is near and things are getting hotter! Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 2 was all about preparing for battle. There was a lot of dragonglass, weapons, witty punchlines, and conversations about death just a few hours before the dead arrive.
While this episode had me feeling a lot of different emotions at once, I still had my doubts, questions, and moments of joining the dots.
So here are some awesome things you might have missed:
1. Bran saying “Things we do for love” to Jaime Lannister is reminiscent of when he told Littlefinger “Chaos is a ladder”.
When I saw Jaime standing in front of Sansa, Jon, and an obviously pissed Dany, I was reminded of Littlefinger’s trial. Though thankfully, Jaime’s throat didn’t end up getting slit, I loved knowing that nobody in the room besides Jaime knew about what Bran meant.

2. Did anyone else notice how much Tyrion was talking about death?
It’s almost as if he is completely convinced that he’s gonna die soon. He reminded us of how he once thought he would die, not expecting to die in Winterfell, and also the scene where he tells Varys and Ser Jorah that someone else has to be Hand once he is gone. Seems like we’re gonna lose him soon, folks!
3. Jaime BELIEVES that Cersei is pregnant even when she lied about everything else. But we saw her drinking wine last episode, so she’s not with child.
Remember Maggy’s prophecy about Cersei? Besides telling her that all her children are going to die, she added that a valonqar or a “little brother” would kill her, and I can’t help but think that would be a betrayed Jaime when he learns that Cersei had lied about the child.
4. We finally see Ghost!
With everyone asking about the whereabouts of Jon’s beloved direwolf after no sign of him in the first episode, it’s a happy feeling to see him once again. Maybe we’ll see Ghost ripping apart some wights next episode!
5. Bran revealed what the Night King wants.
One of the most important questions fans have been asking since the end of time is what does the Night King really want. And Bran, silencing years of speculations, finally revealed that the Night King is coming for him. In Bran’s words: “An endless night. He wants to erase this world and its memory.” And Bran aka The Three-Eyed Raven is the source of all knowledge that has ever existed.
6. Tyrion and Bran had a long chat about all that went down in Bran’s life, and we didn’t get to see it.
I don’t know about you guys, but if the wisest man alive and The Three-Eyed Raven sat down for a chat, it’s impossible to think that a plan of action for upcoming events wasn’t made!
7. Title of the episode: ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’.
One might think that this refers to Brienne of Tarth because she was knighted by Jaime, but somewhere in the books, it has been mentioned that ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ was also the name of a book on Duncan Targaryen, the first in line for the Iron Throne before the ‘Mad King’.
8. Podrick’s song might just contain some major clues about the remaining of the show!
Here’s how the song goes:
“High in the halls of the kings who are gone
Jenny would dance with her ghosts.
The ones she had lost and the ones she had found.
And the ones who had loved her the most.
The ones who’d been gone for so very long
She couldn’t remember their names
They spun her around on the damp, cold stone
Spun away her sorrow and pain
And she never wanted to leave”.
Sources revealed that in the books, this song is called Jenny’s Song and it’s about a woman named Jenny of Oldstones and her prince, Duncan Targaryen. Duncan was supposed to be king, but he gave up the iron throne for his love Jenny. That’s when the ‘Mad King’ ascended the throne instead.
In today’s episode, Dany got a blow on the face when Jon told her that he was Aegon Targaryen. I noticed how someone who has no family, who thinks is the only Targaryen in the world, who is supposed to feel complete on knowing that another Targaryen exists, thinks nothing else apart from her throne and sees Jon as a potential threat.
If Podrick’s song is the clue for the rest of the show, then Jon might just be the one to give up the throne for ‘love’, and the next in line to ascend it would be a ‘Mad Queen’ – Dany, who will ultimately have to be killed.
Can’t wait for the rest of GOT to unveil!
