Keralites Chug ‘Fuljar Soda’ In A Challenge Taking The Internet By Storm! Watch Viral Videos

If you want to be a hipster and catch up with the latest trends around, there is no better place than the internet. While challenges like the Kiki and the Momo stormed social media platforms last year, 2019 has got the people of Kerala obsessing over a new drink.

In numerous videos going viral on social media platforms, Keralites can be seen dropping a shot glass containing a greenish liquid into a glass of soda and then chugging down the fizzy drink immediately. Known as the Fuljar Soda, the method of having the drink has caught more attention than the beverage itself.

While nobody can guarantee where the name came from, you can probably derive that ‘Fuljar’ means a jar full of soda.

However, the ‘Fuljar Soda’ is not an alcoholic drink and is being sold widely across juice shops, kiosks, and restaurants in the God’s own country. It can be easily prepared by mixing mint leaves, ginger, super syrup,  poppy seeds, lemon, chilly paste and a bit of salt.

The drink also comes in a wide variety of flavors like orange, grape, strawberry, pineapple, and watermelon. Ingredients like neem leaves, cinnamon and honey are also included if asked for.

Here are some of the videos which will give you a clear idea about the viral trend.

Despite being hugely popular in the state, the ‘Fuljar’ sales have suffered a huge blow due to the Nipah virus scare. Quality checks are also being conducted by the city corporation authorities at the hotels selling the drink. A surprise raid at the Kozhikode beach, also revealed that the drink was prepared unhygienically using bad quality ingredients, ice cube, and contaminated water.

Safety first, folks!
