Watch Faye D’Souza Slam BMC After None Of The Helpline Numbers Worked. Yes, On LIVE TV!

Mumbai, on the fateful day of 29th August, faced torrential downpour and was sinking in a deluge that was believed to be the worst in the last 12 years! There was water-logging everywhere and the traffic choc-a-bloc had brought the financial capital to a standstill.

In fact, according to Hindustan Times, 19 people lost their lives and 16 others were injured after heavy rains lashed Mumbai. While the administration was not well-equipped for the natural disaster that had hit us, it was the spirit of Mumbai and Mumbaikars that kept the city afloat.

Although major rescue operations were carried out at the ground level (by locals who even sheltered and fed strangers), nothing can take away from the fact that the BMC had failed the city, AGAIN.

And Faye D’Souza, Editor-in-chief of Mirror Now, proved it on LIVE television. The gutsy journalist, in a midst of panellists, called up the BMC’s emergency helpline number (1916) on her show and the end-result is appalling.

“This is the helpline that (stranded) citizens are supposed to be calling.

This Is Disaster Relief in the city of Mumbai.”

Faye didn’t stop at that. She even tried the fire brigade (101) and went on to expose the callous and laidback administration at hand.

“On A day when the city, according to the Government, is facing a natural disaster, None of the helpines are working.”

She even called out Vishwas Pathak, Director, MSEB for the failures and counted instances where the administration could have shown some integrity.

Not only that, Faye pointed out Shiv Sena’s irresponsible behaviour too.

Needless to say, this just goes to cement the notion that after all those years and crores of money, the BMC has learnt nothing after all! Especially after they hounded RJ Malisksha for a video that raised questions about the potholes in Mumbai. SIGH.
