Adorable Video Of Father-Son Dancing To Frozen’s ‘Let It Go’ Is Winning Hearts Online

Recently, I read that ‘Parenting is like flying a kite‘. Moms and dads are in charge of the string. Like a support system; ensuring that the kites (read kids) don’t get hurt or entangle themselves in something dangerous. They also ensure that nothing restricts their flight. But what happens when the kite wants to fly in an unexpected direction? This cool father has an answer.

Ørjan Burøe lives in Norway. He has a 4-year-old son named Dexter who admires ‘Elsa’ from the movie ‘Frozen’. You know, the badass princess who saved her kingdom from the bad guys along with her sister? Conventionally, Disney princesses are loved by little girls but that didn’t stop him from having fun with his boy. He also turned it into an important parenting moment.

“Mom is gone, no stress”, he captioned this dance video (in full costume, no less)

In an interview with CBS News, he explained that Elsa is a superhero to Dexter. She has superpowers and a strong personality that his son finds endearing. He goes on to say that,

“It’s important to teach children that you can do whatever you want to do, and not put prejudice all over them. Soon enough you will find out who you’re going to be in life.”

The video has been shared the world over as a beautiful reminder of gender neutrality. Netizens have bestowed upon him ‘The Father of the Year’ award (unofficially of course).

Kristen Bell, who is the voice of ‘Anna’ in the movie had this to say

Love this gender-neutral approach to parenting. Letting children explore might mean they grow up to be less prejudiced about traditional gender roles, don’t you think?
